If you have pads, wear them!! I decided it was too hot on the climb so they were strapped to my pack when i skidded out on an unexpectedly fast DH section less than a quarter of the way up, hence hurty knee and elbow!!

If you look carefully you can just see Russ and Mark leaping onto their bikes after WALKING up the gentle slope, and Nick got back on just before i leaped into view with camera ready Smile

It looks so much better in the mettle. I thought you were mad when you said you were getting a snot green frame, but i love it!

Russ- I'm betting that if you do get the same color, it'll be at the powder coaters the same daySmile

Nice bike! I like the wheels, are they XC only or can they take some more punnishment, like jumps and drop offs?
Oh and just noticed you live in Canterbury, where do you usually ride? I'm only down the road in Whitstable.

That's not me, that's Russ. And yes that is tape on our helmets, and the others taped up their shoes too. It looked bloody hilariouse! And i have never been so cold at any point in my entire life, and it was freaking April!!

It's OK, it seems to be sinking in now that i no longer have a big ring any more, i haven't done it for daysSmile I think they do a double specific Saint front mech anyway. It cost's a lot more, but a lot of people rave about the E-13 Double chain device. I wanted that but couldn't afford it.

Yeah chain device was well worth the money. I used to get loads of chain slap and jumping from middle to granny, but that is now a distant memorySmile Now running a 38tooth chainring which is absolutely perfect for trail riding. Just have to lower the front mech now so i don't accidentally try and shift to the non existant big ring, as it had become a bit of a habit every time it got flat. Have now found out i didn't really need it at all on my regular rides!

Congrats on the baby. I fitted the 38 tooth chainring today and i now have the perfect gearing for trail riding, i can't see me ever putting the big ring on again (well, maybe for the Whitstable to Margate along the sea front runsSmile Only about 2mm cleanence between the chainring and chainstay though, hopefully that won't be an issue! I like the Summer frames, but sceptical about the geometry changes, as i think they have the right balance with the old frames, especially when running a 5.5inch Pike. Let us know what you think once it's built up.

Just looked at your pictures, and they have only changed the one thing i don't like about the frame, the cable routing. ARSE! Oh well, getting a full suss in about 4 months anywaySmile

Yep, have a look in my gallery, put a couple up the other day. Is the summer edition any different? I noticed the last time i was on the website the price had gone up a fair bit! Oh and if you go for a double and bash, get a 38 tooth chainring too. Have a 32 atm and am spinning my nuts off! Better wait till i fit mine first though to see if it fits, looks like it will be a bit tight up against the chainstay.

Cheers mate! It is an 18" and i am about 5'11". Probably could have gone the next size up, but i like small frames as the standover is massive, and you can really chuck it around. Has a Blackspire chain device and bash ring on now. Unfortunately this means i had to loose the funky blue chainring bolts, as the bash requires longer bolts!

Yeah i am thinking of getting a bash ring too. Some of the trails i ride have loads of fallen trees which have cought me out several times. Most of the time the BB height with the Pike at 140mm is spot on though, so i can't decide....

Very nice bike! Looks so much better with a single crown fork! What were specialized thinking fitting a tripple? What fork is that, a Pike?

Trust me, that wasn't fun!! At this point my hands were so cold i couldn't feel the brake levers, let alone brake, and my toes didn't exist to me any more and didn't warm up again till i got home 5 hours later!
Was you going to do the South Downs Way too?

This was on the train from London Bridge to Canterbury. We had to bail on the last day due to the heavy snow, so we legged it to Brighton, where we got the train to London Bridge and from there to Canterbury. Day one we trained it from Sittingborne to Waterloo, then rode to the station neer the London eye(forgot the name) and from there to Winchester.

Wow that was quick! Only been up 5 seconds! There wasn't an all mountain category, but yes, that is how i have built it up. It's a true do it all bike. The forks have 140mm of travel.
